New life this year!

I have a list in our office of 9 people whom I'm close to who are expecting babies this year already. Family, friends, co-workers, in addition to other people I run into like the woman who sits next to me at choir, my dental hygienist, and on and on. Some of the babies will be first children, some second, and two of them will be the third. People have asked us for advice in different ways: some people want registry lists, product recommendations, some are more concerned about life with baby at home, sleep schedules, breastfeeding. Every new mom has different priorities, concerns, and aspirations.

I've always been accused of being sentimental and I relish in it! Last year at this time we were asking the same questions, sometimes not even understanding the answers or why we should care. So many people helped us to be successful in the first 8 months and we thank you. Now we hope to return the favor to the universe.

In the last couple weeks Miles has outgrown a lot of clothes, the bouncy seat, the baby bathtub, and the jumperoo. It's all packed up for Wisconsin Rapids as we await my brother's first baby! Crazy to think we're past the major baby stage and looking toward toddlerhood. All in all, it's the circle of life, of friendships, and it reminds me that everyone approaches life differently. If you expect it to work out, it will. All my best to those expecting!

8 Months Old

Here we are at 8 months already and we have quite a different baby than we did one month ago. Miles is crawling all over the place directing most efforts to the dog's dishes or fireplace tools. It took him a couple of days to master crawling on our wood floors, but he's pretty speedy now. Miles is eating three meals per day of solids and still drinking 5 bottles. He is starting to feed himself puffs, but he doesn't have the pincer grasp down yet, so everything gets squished in his little fists. He's also starting to experiment with the sippy cup, but it's mostly a toy. Miles recently passed the 20 lb. mark. He dropped his evening nap, but has been ready for bed earlier in exchange, turning in by 7:30 most nights. We're enjoying the heck out of him and marveling at how much he learns every day. It's crazy to watch his little personality develop before our eyes!
